Personality
Sencha at a glance comes off as generous and kind, offering tea to weary travelers and handing out treatments for those who can’t be treated elsewhere; he befriends all who approach him and easily approaches others to make casual conversation. He’s notably overly friendly, being quite the social butterfly and inserting himself into all sorts of situations with others whenever possible.
…But even with the friendly gestures, those native to Noir Vale know him as a bit of a quack, one who smiles a bit too wide when watching others down his tea and laughs a little strangely to himself when preoccupied in the teahouse’s brewing station. Things are always a little strange when Sencha gets too interested in something.
One should be cautious around Sencha, for while his teas are soothing and pleasurable, there is still a mad man at the whims of his own interests behind the brews.
History
On paper, Sencha had grown up at an orphanage within Noir Vale. Technically, the once-young Polchageist had made the streets his home, finding more entertainment in interacting with the shadowy corners and hidden nooks of the area. No one ever came for him, and he accepted this fact with something that could be called grace—so he spent his time learning of the world outside and how to exist in a world that had rejected him once already.
Amidst Sencha’s frequent outings outside of the orphanage, he would find himself sitting at a local teahouse to pass the time. At some point, the teamaster started brewing a cup of tea specifically for Sencha each time he visited. He grew quite fond of the tea over the years he continued frequenting the teahouse, at some point earning himself a job as a kind of assistant, gathering herbs and brewing teas for the teahouse.
Coming of age and growing old enough to leave the orphanage, Sencha came to work entirely at the teahouse, finding comfort in a process that has already been integrated into his being. At some point, the original teamaster had decided to pass on his legacy to Sencha when he passed. Left on his lonesome again, he struggled to get his footing.
He experimented with his brews: tried to see what would get customers to stay or come back more, tried to see what new flavors he could make to be more interesting in the wake of a business he barely understood. Reaching out for help in a place like Noir Vale is a bit of a gamble, and for Sencha, he ended up in a situation where in taking more risks, he found himself to be quite the skillful potion master.
His teas became potions. His potions were teas. Herbs blended and brewed in certain ways brought customers to him more frequently. They healed, they harmed. Whatever it was, it still brought them back to the teahouse. For Sencha, being wanted—no, needed—was more than enough to exist in this world. Because for him, this is the place that has accepted him.

Sencha would tend to the teahouse as usual; but on days where he wasn't tending to the teahouse, Sencha would stroll around with an umbrella, harvesting materials that only like coming out during the rain... Or staying home and reading idly.
