Personality

Musi has become remarkably good at maintaining a facade. If anything, he prefers being underestimated. He takes his time when speaking, making him look dumb, lets his eyes wander toward the clouds, and will occasionally say something deliberately foolish just to make himself seem less capable than he really is. There is little reason for people to pay attention to someone who appears harmless and easily distracted after all. And who would suspect the slowbro who sell food in the street of anything inconspicuous.

Beneath that slow and easygoing exterior, Musi is calm, calculated, and remarkably attentive to danger. His years of living on the streets taught him to constantly observe his surroundings, read people's intentions, and notice when something feels wrong. Those habits are difficult to kill, even after leaving that life behind.

Despite his cautious nature, Musi is generally jolly and pleasant to be around. He likes listening to others, smiling, nodding along, and making himself as unobtrusive as possible. He avoids confrontation whenever he can and will sometimes agree with someone's opinion simply to keep the peace. Getting him to do something he genuinely doesn't want to do, however, is another matter entirely. Musi is exceptionally good at wiggling his way out of situations he dislikes, whether through excuses, distractions, harmless lies, or simply making himself so inconvenient to deal with that people eventually give up. Often all that while excusing himself profusely.

Musi has severe trust issue. He is quick to thank people and will usually appear genuinely appreciative when someone helps him or offers him something. Yet behind that grateful smile, part of him is always wondering what they really want in return. He has learned that kindness can come with strings attached, and he rarely accepts generosity without looking for those hidden strings. His pleasant expression can therefore hide a great deal of distrust, and at times quiet contempt.
More than anything, Musi is a compulsive liar. He has become so accustomed to hiding pieces of himself that lying often comes naturally, even when there is little reason to do so. Most of what he says is carefully chosen to maintain whatever version of himself he wants others to see. He avoids talking about the things he genuinely enjoys, the people he cares about, or anything else that might reveal a vulnerability. To Musi, information is a weakness if it falls into the wrong hands.
So he keeps people guessing.

The friendly fool, the harmless vagabon, the distracted cook, just a stupid little men. Any of these can be useful masks. And Musi has become very good at wearing them. So much so it’s unclear if he is able to remove them.

History

If asked, Musi would say he had a typical childhood for someone raised with multiple siblings raised between the countryside not too far from the sea and a big city. There was the usual bickering, playing around, pranking adults, exploring the forest, catching bugs and getting into trouble together. Nothing remarkable. No need to look too deep into it.

Or that's the version he is willing to share with people.

The truth was that his family was poor, poor enough that food was sometimes something they had to fight over. When things became difficult, petty theft was hardly out of the question. His parents did what they could to provide, but there were too many mouths to feed and never quite enough to go around. Musi couldn't say if their parents loved them, but they never screamed at the kids, so at least there was no hate, no abuse, but by looking at other families he knew they were not a loving family and they were often left to fend for themselves. It almost seemed like they were not related at the time, just people of all ages struggling together.

One of the few good memories in Musi's childhood was an old woman who lived nearby. A fragile old widdow, always hunched over on herself and wearing clean but simple kimonos. Whenever she could spare some, she would offer food to the children in exchange for helping around her home. Musi loved working in her kitchen, the snacks the only reason he came at first but quickly became an after thought. He would watch her prepare meals, help with whatever little tasks she gave him, clean, and listen to her hum quietly as she worked. She eventually passed away, only a few years later. Her house was quickly picked clean by her grandchildren who came and took everything, leaving it empty and cold. Musi can now barely remember her face. Time has worn away the details… the shape of her eyes, the lines and creases on her face, even the sound of her voice. Yet whenever he cooks, he sometimes finds himself remembering her humming in the back of his mind. For just a moment, it feels as though she is just standing beside him and watching him work…

His childhood "pranks," meanwhile, were more like heists and thievery disguised as playful games between the childrens. He and his siblings learned to steal whatever they could get away with when their family needed something. Musi and his two older siblings became surprisingly good at it, even when their other kids started leaving and quitting. But at some point, they grew bolder, complacent about their skill and how easy it seemed to be. At first, Musi wasn't particularly eager to take part in their more dangerous schemes. Still, pressure had a funny way of making people do stupid things, and however clever he might be in normal circumstance, Musi could muster some impressive display of imbecility under peer presure. He didn't want to be the lil brother who backed out, and his older siblings knew exactly how to push him into coming along, brushing away all the little voices and alarms ringing between his ears.

The first time their plan went wrong, Musi's siblings left him behind. He was caught and punished while the two of them escaped, obviously he didn't tell on them because that would be snitching. As such, Musi thought it was a one-time mistake, something they would learn from, they would do better next time... He was wrong. The second time, they did it again, using him as a means to escape. Once more, Musi was left to take the blame while they slipped away without consequence. He bore two marks on his arms, while they had none to show for it. Something between the three siblings broke. The trust they had once shared was replaced by suspicion, resentment, and paranoia. Musi no longer felt safe following them. What if they abandoned him again? What if the next mistake was worse? He wasn't even sure he would be able to shoulder a third faillure on his own. People in the area were beginning to recognize him, throwing wary looks his way and avoiding him whenever they could. It made everything harder. Especially when he heard people mumble how HE turned out like this while his two older siblings were seen as the one always getting their good for nothing brother out of trouble. Meanwhile, his siblings remained free of consequences. For the first time, Musi realized that staying with them might cost him more than leaving ever could.

Eventually, Musi decided he had enough…. So he stole back some of the spoils his siblings and he had stolen and disappeared. It was only fair after all. He left behind his family, his old life, and the constant fear of wondering whether the people around would stand by him when things went wrong. So he traveled far away. He wanted somewhere quiet. Somewhere nobody knew his name or cared about the things he had done. Somewhere he could start over without having to constantly look over his shoulder.

He remembered the old woman who had once shared her food with hungry children. He remembered the warmth of her kitchen, the simple recipes she taught him, and the gentle humming that accompanied her work. He remembered how much comfort something as simple as some food could bring to people. He wanted a place where he could cook a warm meal, hear the sounds of quiet life and sell what ever he made, so Noir Vale had been his target and his travel lead him there after a while.

Now he has a humble way of living, but it's better than living behind bars, or worse.

Additional

Musi was the name his siblings kept calling him as kids and with time he just adopted it. He’s Musi, just Musi. Small and insignificant.

He got the tattoos around his chest after getting the two rings on his arms, as an attempt to distract people from the fact that they are criminal tattoos. The artist refussed to cover them so he's still looking for one to take care of that part. If pressed on the subject, he will try to look stupid and pretend that he didn't realize what the rings on his wrists meant before getting them. Still, he's happy he didn't get his tattoo right in the middle of his forehead. If lucky he’s just gonna pass for the village's biggest moron and people won’t uncover the reason behind them.

Musi learned the basics of cooking a long time ago, but it came back to him quickly. As long as he has the ingredients and it doesn't require complex manipulation or a specialty tool, he can try to cook up just about anything.
Musi enjoys a very spicy berry that he is never willing to share with others. He always carries a bag and can be seen popping one into his mouth whenever he's slouching somewhere when he thinks no one is watching.
One of Musi's arms is made of a solid layer resembling a shell. It cannot be removed and is a part of his body. The purple finger on that arm is hollow, and this is how he can inject poison, though he rarely uses it for anything other than self-defense.
His other hand is mostly normal, except for the tips of his fingers, which turned purple from eating a particular spice. Any food he touches for too long with the tips of his purple fingers will slowly start to get spicier as he manipulates it, leading him to often work with the palms of his hands or with tools instead. He doesn't mind the taste, but he has gotten some complaints… Apparently, it's “gross.” Your loss.
Musi likes to think that his life of crime is behind him, but every now and then, the temptation to slip back into his old ways gets the better of him. He never steals anything truly important, but he might take something just to be petty or get revenge on someone who rubbed him the wrong way.So if you ever lose your favorite hairpin and somehow find it at the bottom of the river… well, it might have been Musi.

Musi avoids fighting as much as possible but if unavoidable, poison slap and run before his victim, i mean opponent, can react.

Oh boy is he broke but aw gawd does he love gambling.

Quirks linked to his typing;
Poison: Musi has a high tolerance to alcohol and poisonous stuff. Even though he's far from immune, this allows him to eat mushrooms or random plants without looking too much into them or imbibe with little self restraint, as long as it's not an exclusive diet. He still needs to cut down all that with normal food. He do like to act like a light weight when people are around.

Psychic: Musi is smart, clever and is really good at reading people. Sure he doesn't read minds but he has a knack for spotting tells in people, twitching and changes in speech patterns. It’s still a bit uncanny for some
