The group's opening year. Leaders and Guardians were still finding their footing, so village rosters shifted often.

The summer-long Kami Trio war began after the shrine was damaged and the trio's grief and rage tore through every village. Leaders and Guardians gathered people into three fortified hubs — Gale Spring, Scorched Mountain, and Noir Vale — which became the three home bases the group remembers today. The shrine was rebuilt; families spent the following months settling into new routines after the move.

Acuity the Uxie stepped up as a Leader and uncovered who damaged the shrine. Scholars in northern Gale Spring created a Genesect gijinka. Koori called on Reshiram and Zekrom for aid — Ryuunosuke the Zekrom and Noria the Reshiram answered. They settled the crisis peacefully and reached an understanding with the Genesect; he was spared, and once calm returned he was free of the faction that had used him.

Highlights included a Year of the Snake celebration in Noir Vale, Halloween, and Secret Santa.

Noria and Renjiro opened the year with a battle tournament, then Xerneas and Yveltal turned the season into a crisis. Yveltal struck the tournament watchers and killed Guardian Renjiro; Xerneas arrived soon after and offered immortal life to everyone who stood against Yveltal. Yveltal shifted her focus to Leaders and Guardians as a cleaner source of the power she needed to sleep, winnowing the field until Reiran and Renjiro were the last living Guardians. Xerneas has not been seen at a tournament since. Yveltal's aura also sent many Dark-types into a frenzy, and wild Houndoom and Honchkrow joined the chaos.

Zygarde intervened and reminded both Legendaries of their paired roles in life and death. Everyone who fell in the fighting was restored, and Xerneas's immortality gift lifted. Zygarde rallied other Legendaries; together they ended the worst of the threat, and Yveltal and Xerneas now rest as gems — Yveltal holding Xerneas's life force so both can sleep. The Sentinels step into the story here: Eien (Mew), Naruen (Celebi), Yokunen (Jirachi), Ryujin (Lugia), Aki (Ho-Oh), Chouka (Latias), Naien (Victini), and Atsu (Entei). Makaze joins Scorched Mountain as a Leader. Xerneas's parting surge of energy awakens Fairy-types across the group.

The tournament picks back up, followed by a hanami festival and Tanabata. Tanabata's prize is a social outing with a Leader, Guardian, or Sentinel of the winner's choice.

During a Scorched Mountain festival mock battle, the Tao trio (Noria, Koori, Makaze) are frozen by a Mewtwo and twin Gallades, then spirited away. Tserin gathers the Swords of Justice for a Sacred Sword rite, crossing paths with a feral Makaze and Noria along the way. Murakumo the Virizion, Avakiri the Cobalion, and Yisun the Terrakion complete the ritual and help free Koori's infused soul from Makaze and Noria. Masamune the Mewtwo starts out opposing the group; when the same hidden organization behind earlier schemes is exposed, he joins Noir Vale as a Guardian.

Year of the Sheep festival to start the year. Later, gangs of bandits settle in the ruins of the older villages, lashing out at Gale Spring, Noir Vale, and Scorched Mountain. First werewolves vs. vampires Halloween event.

Snow Festival at the start of the year, followed by a talent show and contests. Ekishou the Deoxys and Chunaeng the Cresselia feud in Fire Field over who makes the sharper bandit; villagers join the fun and Chunaeng comes out ahead. Their last clash throws off enough Psychic pressure to send nearby residents to the Azure Isles for the first time, and Leaders from the other villages sail to Radiant Harbor to coordinate the rescue.

Year of the Rooster festivities. Radiant Harbor opens to the wider group and the rest of Pokimono. In the Emissaries from the Future storyline, children of active characters travel back from a bleak timeline to warn their parents, guided by Naruen, about the Ultra Beasts on the horizon.

Year of the Dog events, Tanabata, Secret Santa. First Pokitober!

Year of the Pig. An Aromatisse-led Valentine's storyline fills the air with pheromones and sends most of Pokimono into a sweet, dizzy romance for a while. Hanamatsuri, Pokimatsuri (the year's big art month), trick-or-treat Halloween in the abandoned villages hosted by Ekishou, and Secret Santa rounded out the calendar.

Year of the Rat. Ultra Beasts reach Pokimono as invaders, envoys, and wild cards alike. The annual art month runs as Pokitember (after Pokimatsuri and Pokitober in prior seasons).

Year of the Ox. Pokimono formally closes.
