Yuu Kaizaki

The Kaizaki clan traces its origins to the dawn of the Sun Empire, founded by a legendary hero said to be the first Dragonite capable of Mega Evolution. Throughout history, the clan has produced many noble figures known for their valor and selflessness, a legacy that became a source of immense pride.

However, in recent centuries, the clan's pride hardened into arrogance. When the last Dragonite patriarch died without an heir of his own species, a bitter succession dispute erupted. Some upheld tradition, insisting that leadership should pass to the eldest child regardless that they were not of the Dragonite line. Others believed power rightfully belonged to the deceased leader’s younger brother, a Dragonair of proven merit.

The feud tore the clan apart. Unable to reconcile, a quarter of its members abandoned the main household, forsaking nobility to rebuild their lives elsewhere. Many settled in humble fishing villages, trading grandeur for simplicity.

Generations have since passed, and while the branch families maintain their heritage, they now only reunite with the main household once a year—a fragile reminder of a once-unified legacy.

Born into one of the Kaizaki branch families, Yuu was spared the rigid traditions and suffocating expectations of the main household. Instead, she grew up with the simple freedoms of coastal life—salt-kissed air, the rhythm of the tides, and the vast, uncharted blue that called to her like a second home.

Like her mother before her, she became a pearl diver, plunging into the quiet depths where the ocean’s secrets drifted just beyond her fingertips. It was honest work, unglamorous but fulfilling—a life measured in breathless dives and treasures wrested from the seabed.

For Yuu, the sea was more than a livelihood; it was escape, solace, and boundless possibility. And as long as the waves welcomed her back, she would never need for anything else.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-Due to the fact Dragonair can fly, so can Yuu. She prefers to float instead of walk, so she tends to go about her day without shoes. Especially helpful to avoid sand.

-Will rip off her clothes and jump into the ocean at any given opportunity.

-Is unbothered going around the village half naked in only a sarashi and fundoshi after a swim.

-She is sensitive to weather changes hours before they happen, giving her enough time to prepare for in advance.

-Learned how to the play the ocarina/flute from her father. If you’re lucky enough, one may catch her performing on the rocks against the waves.

-There is a sharpedo that likes to strike her whenever she is working. One solid punch to the nose is her way of greeting the Pokémon, a habit the two have developed since her early days as a pearl diver when he was a carvanha. He likes to hang around while she works hoping to get a treat along the way. Yuu named him Kozame.

-Has quite a few FWB. Thinks this is the closest she’ll ever get to a relationship.
