Haru

Haru is often spotted in transit, hitching rides on the back of light carts or marching with an insufferably chipper hum in his throat up and down the roads connecting hamlet and hovel, wherever a letter or parcel can be taken to or from. As long as the people of Gale Spring can remember, this is how Haru has lived his life, as carefree as a leaf in the wind.
Even in the days when his hair was... well, normal hair, and not a curious vegetable matter, Haru has made his living fetching things, delivering messages, and having a charming air about him.
One day, ten years past, the boy had taken a nap in a mossy grotto to wait out a violent windstorm that had suddenly assailed the road between Eon Lakes and Deerling Grove.
When he emerged from the dark recluse, he gazed upon the sun, and felt its warmth upon his flesh as never before; since then, Haru possesses a preternatural swiftness to his step and a ceaseless vigor when the day is harsh.
