Personality

He is the sort of person who quietly values personal calling over family expectation and social rank. While he remains polite, well-mannered, and respectful of his upbringing, he consistently follows his heart when it comes to the bigger decisions in life. This soft stubbornness gives him a reputation as capable and kind, yet not entirely conventional.
Reita is for the most part is soft spoken and quietly charming, with a mild wit that surfaces easily among those he trusts. He tends to avoid unnecessary conflict or on occasion a bit of responsibility when possible, yet remains stubborn and capable of soft-edged pointedness when pressed ... and well his petty side will surface. He can be a bit mean and bully-chan as heck. At home he is affectionate and devoted, particularly toward his lovely wife and young daughter Tamako (whom he affectionately calls “Tamago”).

History

The son of a miko and a high born-scholar; Reita was born and raised within the serene grounds of the Shirokaze Jinja (白風神社; White Wind Shrine) within Gale Springs territory. He grew up under quiet but distinct expectations. His father hoped he would pursue the scholarly path, while his mother gently nurtured the idea that he might one day serve the shrine as she and her ancestors had.
Raised within the serene grounds of the Shirokaze shrine, Reita grew up surrounded by spiritual tradition. From a young age he showed interest in the shrine path, assisting with rituals and studying under the clergy with the hope of one day becoming a priest. At the same time, his father’s influence instilled in him a sharp mind and an appreciation for careful thought, instilling some scholarly discipline.
As a boy and young acolyte, Reita took a genuine interest in the priesthood and assisted with pilgrimages and daily rites. Over time, however, he found himself more drawn to the practical side of care. Watching people come to the shrine seeking relief from illness as often as spiritual guidance sparked a quiet curiosity about medicine. He discovered he preferred easing someone’s immediate suffering over formal ritual.
As he matured, Reita’s path gradually shifted. Rather than continuing toward priesthood, he developed a strong interest in medicine and healing. He devoted himself to learning the craft, combining practical knowledge with the careful study of resources available to him with the abundance of healing text and arts available in Gale Spring. .
These decisions in the end painted Reita as someone who listens to his own heart and sense of purpose. Even when it meant gently disappointing expectations and stepping off the more proper path that had been laid out for him.
In time he established himself as a capable healer in Gale Spring, known for his skill with medicinal herbs (making poultice and tinctures) and the small charms he often carves for patients.
Most people would have considered healing a worthy and useful occupation, especially since Reita clearly possessed skill and care. However, the choice within his clan was seen as a quiet step downward. A son that ‘settled’ for practical work. Words that perchance may have hurt a status conscious man; but Reita was none of that.
Though he stepped away from the paths expected of him, Reita has built a steady life centered on healing, family, and quiet contentment. Aiming to balance day to day life with a quieter, more personal calling.

Additional

Likes:
▹has a serious sweet tooth and especially loves dango and mochi of almost any kind, often pairing them with sweet teas or a bit of sake when he wants to unwind.
▹The quiet satisfaction of a remedy working exactly as intended
▹Listening to his daughter’s laughter (or her crazy little stories)
▹finding a perfectly good stone or interesting branch while walking.
▹Well-made fans and the gentle breeze they create
▹Simple, unhurried evenings at home with his Wife.

Dislikes:
▸When others flirt with his wife; will kindly kiss the brick and send a Future Sight their way ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
▸wearing shoes or those tabi socks; he is almost always barefoot at home.
▸Having his bare feet stepped on (he’s surprisingly protective of them)
▸Unnecessary formal gatherings that drag on too long
▸Short naps frustrate him—he either wants a proper rest or none at all.
▸Dancing is something he actively avoids, finding it awkward and exposing.
▸Bitter flavors are a hard no for him; he will politely but firmly refuse anything that isn’t at least a little sweet. (But hey if the remedy happens to be super bitter anyways then suck it up!)

Notes:
⋆ His wings are functional despite not being overly large… he uses them more for graceful gliding and balance than long distance flight. Catch him secretly gliding every now and then down an open path; he’ll act like he wasn’t if he senses someone nearby.
⋆ crafty individual has a knack for Mukimono (specifically: apple carving) and at times he even makes charms (varying from engimono and the occasional omamori). usually given out as gifts for good luck to patients and or friends. His young daughter loves watching him craft them.
⋆ given he naturally has white hair; his ‘greys’ don’t actually stick out or show. But he knows the subtle difference. He has a total of five ‘greys’ thanks to Tamago.
⋆ Yes his wings do sprinkle that joy dust when he’s content. He tries not to but sometimes his clothes do end up a little glittery and so do his wife and children.
