Personality

Mimoto is by and large a collected individual that doesn't hesitate on what she wants. Though she is expected to be tough, she is also fair in judgement as well. She believes in a fair and just world, and fully expects to contribute to that fair and just world that she believes in. More importantly, she values the importance of a samurai defending the most vulnerable of society, and thus finds value in wanting to protect that side of society.

But beneath her calm and collected nature, she holds turmoil within herself and envy towards others over what she believes are the lives that they live. Even if she wants to lead by example, her self-doubts cloud her mind and thus leads herself to assume that she isn't what others want from her.

History

Mimoto Yoshida is the surviving daughter of samurais Kazuya Yoshida of the Dark-type Yoshida clan and Hoshiko Kaen of the Fire-type Kaen clan from Scorched Mountain, as well as the only child that the couple would produce before their untimely demises. As a result, her solitary existence as the clans’ efforts to combine and strengthen each other is both a blessing and a curse—taught in the ways that her parents took in their skills as samurai, but forced to choose which clan to lead when the time comes.

Born near Red River in Scorched Mountain during the night and partially named after her parents’ trusted mentor Miyamoto Doraku, Mimoto was initially raised under the care of the Umbreon bugyō Kazuya and his wife, the Flareon onna-bushi Hoshiko. Though the arrangement was meant to be political, if not strategic in a time of war and conflict, the ten years in which the couple had with each other only showed their devotion towards each other. Unsurprisingly, by the time their only daughter was born, both of her parents were content with having their own lives outside of being members of separate samurai clans.

But when Mimoto was three months old, tragedy struck as her parents’ recent mission went south, leading to their deaths and her to be orphaned. The heads of her parents’ clans, her paternal uncle Hirokuni Yoshida and her maternal uncle Juunosuke Kaen, were swift to ensure that she would not be sent to an orphanage, but there had been many a night where both clans argued whose domain she would call home to. Finally, after much consideration, with both her parents’ clans split on who would be the one to raise her, a compromise was settled—she would be under the care of her father’s illegitimate half-brother, the Houndoom Iehiro Yoshida, but would split her time training as a samurai for both of her clans. This resulted in the Eevee child raised in a household under her half-uncle and alongside her cousin, the Zoura Eizo.

For sixteen years, while raised within the household of a reluctant arrangement, Mimoto was taught in the craft of samurai. Despite her gender, her relatives couldn’t restrain her from partaking in what her parents were taught at her age nor could they prohibit her from potentially taking over as the future head. They also couldn’t restrain her from being around her more illegitimate and eventually rebellious half-cousin; even as an Eevee, Mimoto had to learn responsibility at a young age. Between her education and training, she needed to pull in her weight within the home and keeping an eye on her cousin. This made her feel isolated from the rest of her cousins in her parents’ clans, who were living out their own lives with parents that looked after them. It was when she began to learn about her parents through her relatives, feeling an emptiness of their absence.

When she was sixteen years of age, having learned a Fairy-type move in a need of acceptance and with her emotions at an apex, Mimoto evolved to become a Sylveon—neither Umbreon nor Flareon, yet typically an enemy in the eyes of both clans. Yet she remained a member of both the Yoshida and the Kaen clans as they knew that disowning her would mean cutting off not just a member of their combined blood, but also a developing samurai and a means to expand their bloodlines further. Thus she remained, but she would take on the markings of both of her clans to ensure her loyalty to them; breaking her oath to her clans would mean severe punishment. Now she must do what it takes to prove her worth to both clans—to finish what her parents began and thus take her place in whichever path she takes.

Question of the Day49

QOTD #51Are you a space heater? Do you get cold easily? Are you naturally this way, or does your body temperature fluctuate easily? How do you handle the temperature changes?

"I've been told that I am a natural heater, though that's because I kinda inherited that from my mother, given that she was a Flareon. But I try to keep my feelers warm as much as possible since they feel more like silk than fur. ... In my defense, I had more poofy fluff as an Eevee than I do now."

QOTD #50How are you with money?

Considering that Mimoto receives a share of the monthly stipend that her half-uncle receives in accordance to raising her, she was taught to save up money and spend it for what she really needs rather than anything frugal. Not to mention, she is expected to receive some inheritance from both sides of the extended family...

QOTD #49What does your character think about being the mon that are? Do they like if they have wings, or a tail, horns, ect? Do they find anything annoying about being the speficie ginjka they are? Love anything about being the mon they are?

"That's really the thing. When I evolved into a Sylveon, neither of my parents' clans had any idea what to do with me since they were used to viewing Fairies as being... well, 'enemies' to put it lightly. But about the only thing that would push me to being Fairy-like are my feelers. At first, it was a tough adjustment since my feelers can pick up things that I could have never think of noticing as an Eevee. But after a while... I've grown attatched to them."

QOTD #48What do you think of the village you live in/is your main base of operations (for the travellers)? Is it your favourite of the Four?

"Scorched Mountain is... well, simply put, it's home. It's where my ancestors come from, where they lived, breathed, and died, and it's where I intend to put down my roots as well."

QOTD #47Does your OC partake in fanfiction (reading and/or writing)?

Mimoto herself doesn't write fanfiction... but she does have a cousin who has her read it on their off time...

QOTD #46What is your relationship with your parents?

Mimoto just slowly turns her head to look at the question-asker with a blank look on her face.

QOTD #45Do you cry easily?

"I used to when I was young. Not anymore."

QOTD #44What does your character think of their pokemon counterpart?

She thinks that Sylveons are undoubtedly adorable and fascinating to learn about- she must have met one that was someone's pet, but that doesn't matter because she's perfectly okay with their existence.

QOTD #43We have 4 gods and 4 villages. Which do you believe has the most devoted followers of specific Gods? Does your OC have any thoughts about them?

"I fear that I am not as spiritually awake enough to answer that question."

QOTD #42What are some ways you prepare for the colder season?

Mimoto mainly spends a little more time with her mother's clan, y'know Fire-type and all that, which means helping them out with preparing for cold weather. She also makes sure that her half-uncle, stepaunt, and half-cousin have enough resources for the colder seasons as well.

QOTD #41What's the scariest thing you've ever heard or experienced?

"When I was still an Eevee, my cousins and I were brought to one of the prisons that held a criminal waiting for their execution. I never forgot that moment when the criminal's head came off and I saw the light in their eyes fade..."

QOTD #40Do you have any nervous tics or self soothing habits?

Mimoto tends to pick at her fingertips whenever she's nervous, which is a bad habit of hers. As for self-soothing techniques, she'll hold her feelers and take steady breaths.

QOTD #39What pisses you off instantly?

"Grabbing, pulling my feelers. You never EVER want to do that, I will say that now."

QOTD #38How are you at handling feral Pokémon?

"If they're capable of being tamed, then they have a chance. If not... well, I don't need to provide details."

QOTD #37Can you flirt? What’s it look like?

Sorry to her fellow bis, but Mimoto's... not the best at flirting. In her defense, she's been so focused on her training and her studies that there's no time for socialization or flirting. Her half-cousin does plan to help her with a few pointers.

QOTD #36Are you good at lying?

"Depends on the context."

QOTD #35You have to travel a far distance elsewhere in the Sun Empire... what's your preferred method of transportation? Will you walk the entire way? Do you hire services? Do you fly, or stay on the ground?

For Mimoto's mode of transportation, she usually relies on a mount to get her wherever she wants to go. Land, water, sky, doesn't matter- if it's big enough to carry her, then she'll take it. But that depends on the distance. If it's a short distance, she walks. If it's a long distance, then she'll take a ride. If she's needed for something involving samurai politics, despite her insistence that she would go herself, her families would have her use a norimono (palanquin from the Edo Period that was used by nobility and the warrior class).

QOTD #34Do you believe in fate?

"It depends on what fate has in store in the short term or the long term."

QOTD #33At the end of everything, what is it that drives you?

"My brain, my heart, and my breath. As long as I still have at least one of them, I would never give up."

QOTD #32In a life or death situation of "It's you or them", what would your character choose?

"If there's any chance that the other would pull through, it'd be them. But if there's no chance, then it'd have to be me."

QOTD #31What's your character's go to snack?

"Berries, mostly. Which kind? Either sweet or spicy, doesn't matter to me."

QOTD #30Do you have any hobbies? Is there a story behind how you got into that hobby?

"Reading mainly, but also woodchopping and tending to livestock. When you split your time living between three properties, you pick up whatever you can depending on who you're with." Mimoto had at least two different private tutors assigned to her when she was growing up- one from the Yoshida clan, the other from the Kaen clan- so she had double the reading material at her half-uncle's place, which made her pick up on reading pretty quickly. But between training, she engages in woodchopping at her mother's clan's property- mainly for firewood since Fire-type- while she helps with livestock on her father's clan's property. If it helps anything, her younger cousins also partake in the hobbies as well as a learning opportunity.

QOTD #29What is your home like? Are there any changes you'd consider making to it? Or does "home" mean something different to you? (Maybe a person in your life?)

Mimoto's home life can be split in three ways: the home she was raised in, her father's clan's home, and her mother's clan's home. With the home that she was raised in, where she was raised by her paternal half-uncle Iehiro and his wife Jin Bao (and where she currently resides), it's typical of a samurai retainer's abode. Her room is simple with the futon, scrolls, and lanturn, but it also holds a container for the things that she keeps. Since she's staying there for the time being, she doesn't have much say in what changes to make, really. With her father's clan's home in the form of Onoecho Manor, which is in the *shinden-zukuri* style, Mimoto has her own room whenever she comes by to visit- it gets tended to by servants whenever she's not there. It's a little more lavish with calligraphy and paintings and has a view of the moon at night. The only change she'd want to make is at least making it feel more lived-in frequently. With her mother's clan's home in the form of Fujiidera Manor, which is in the *buke-zukuri*, Mimoto has her own room whenever she comes by to visit- just like in Onoecho Manor, it gets tended to by servants whenever she's not there. It's a mixture of a bedroom and training room with target practice and wooden weapons and is naturally warm, especially during the cooler season. The only change she'd want to make is... well, she'd want to make it more lived-in.

QOTD #28From your point of view, what is love?

"Love is... well, love is complicated. It's loyalty, but knowing when to be honest. It's putting trust in another person, yet trusting yourself. It's seeing the stars in someone's eyes and the moon in their smile."

QOTD #27Are you surviving, or are you living? If you can't tell the difference, what does that say about what you think life is for?

"I... I don't know..."

QOTD #26If you could send a one brief message to your younger self, what would it be?

"If I could say one thing, it's... well, don't give up."

QOTD #25Is it wrong to commit a harmful act, crime, or malicious intention if no one would ever know or find out?

"If you have too much confidence that you won't get caught and not enough remorse to regret it later."

QOTD #24Which is more important: doing things right or doing the right thing?

"The Yoshida clan says one thing, the Kaen clan says another. Me personally, I don't care as long as things get done regardless."

QOTD #23Name a few things you check are with you before your leave your house

"Let's see... my pouch, my kaiken, my dignity..."

QOTD #22What is your least favourite chore to do? (Cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc) And are there any chores you enjoy doing?

"In terms of what chores I hate doing... truth be told, I can't think of a chore to really hate since they're important in keeping the home in stable condition. But the one chore that I enjoy doing is chopping wood for the fire. Helps with technique, muscle form, and resources and all that."

QOTD #21ARE YOU A NIGHT OR MORNING PERSON?!

"It's... customary that I wake up in the morning to start my day. At least in both clans."

QOTD #20Are you a cat, or a dog? No other options.

"I like both."

QOTD #19What is your love language?

"... Physical touch."

QOTD #18How are you with kids? Would you like to have kids someday?

"I have no problems with kids. If anything, as someone who is among the older cousins between both of my families, I keep an eye on them as much as I can. Kids outside of the familiy, I try to be a safe person for them if they are separated from their parents or if they have a question. As for wanting kids... well, I would like to be a mother someday. Not because it'd be part of my future duty as head of the clan, but because I'd want to be there for them."

QOTD #16What’s your favorite food? Why is it your favorite?

"Ebi chili, which I tried during an early visit to my mother's clan when I was young. If given the opportunity to make it on my own, then I will make it."

QOTD #15Does your character have a prized possession, and is there a story behind it?

"An Eevee plush that I've had ever since I was very young. From what I was told, my father had it handmade and gave it to me after I was born."

QOTD #14where do you see yourselves in 5 years

"Five years will feel like a long time. I'd most likely be arranged to marry another samurai, have a successor of my own... become head of either my father's clan or my mother's. But the one thing I want to see myself in 5 years is... alive..."

QOTD #13Are you a good person?

"I try to be one."

QOTD #11how does your character handle getting sick? Do they still go to work?

It depends on how bad the sickness is for her. If it's a bad sneeze or cough, she'll use her feelers to cover her mouth and nose so that she can focus on her duties. But if it's a serious illness or even a severe allergic reaction, then she'll have to stay home for her safety and for the safety of others. She's not going to be stupid or selfish.

QOTD #10Time to see how cultured y'all are. Have your characters compose a haiku

"If I am not successful at this, then my stepaunt will not let this go. *'Depression escapes Sadness falls through broken walls My heart overflows'*"

QOTD #9Forget friends. How many enemies do you have?

"How many enemies do I have? Considering that there are more than enough rival clans that hate both of mine, as well as unaffiliated bandits and robbers that both my parents dealt with... And of course, my father's first son that he had had out of wedlock before my half-uncle, who has a serious bone to pick about having been 'looked over', there's that one as well."

QOTD #8Did your character ever have any childhood friends? Are they still friends today?

"I doubt Eizo would count as a childhood friend since we grew up together in one household. Can't exactly count my cousins, either, since they're more family and they learned the same things I did. But... I do remember that Onoecho Manor used to have servants from the Thunder Mountains that had kids. One of them grew up to evolve into a Pikachu. I think... I think his name was Kaminari. But I was still an Eevee when the servants left Onoecho Manor, so I never saw him again. I doubt that he remembers me."

QOTD #7describe your weekend plans in three words

Work, train, repeat

QOTD #6Is your character capable of creating inhuman noises? Something akin to the pokemon they are?

She is capable of rabbit clucking whenever she is eating something and is satisfied, hissing like a cat and a rabbit combined, and a fox-like bark. This is more typical of the Kaen clan, specifically with the Flareons (like her mother), but she is definitely capable of giving off the Sylveon's clean melodic whistle.

QOTD #5When you go to a festival, what's your favorite thing to do? Get snacks, hang out with friends, play games, ECT?

"I wish I could answer the question, but I'm afraid to admit that I don't visit the festivals for fun. I tend to go as patrol detail."

QOTD #4Inspiration board, kin wheel, college of random assortment of photos—whatever it is, what makes up your character? Who or what is their inspiration? Their conceptual theme?

Pre-revival Pokimono, Mimoto's character was inspired by the very concept of the Eevee itself- blank slate, multiple future paths- and I went from there. However, when Gen 6 came out and introduced the Fairy-type, thus introducing Sylveon, a primary inspiration for her being a Sylveon was the Irish folklore on the changelings. Her having a light-hearted personality as a Sylveon was because... well, my family and I went through a massive tragedy a couple of years prior, then went through more tragedies after, and this was my way of trying to cheer myself up. Revival Pokimono, though, Mimoto's partially inspired by myself in a sense- graduated from university having learned more, juggling between a freelance job and cosplayer, and trying to help with responsibilities and all that. Plus, I wanted to try and bring some closure to her by giving her back her serious personality from when she was an Eevee in the OG Pokimono.

QOTD #3Describe your going to bed routine. Do you have any quirks in your sleeping habits? How do you snore?

The first thing Mimoto does before going to bed is typically the beauty ritual that was passed down from her mother, which is washing her face with rice water and then using coal steam as "moisturizer". However, given that she is a descendant from two samurai clans, she will always keep her mother's kaiken dagger under her pillow just a precaution if something happens.

QOTD #2What would you do on a rainy day?

It depends where I am at. At my uncle's house, I help tend the house per his and my aunt's request. On my father's clan's property, I find myself in the armor room than not. On my mother's clan's property, I'm practicing my skills in the training room.

QOTD #1who were you closer to as a child? Mom or dad?

Actual parents? From what I was told, they died when I was still young. But I'm closer to my father's family by a narrow margin compared to my mother's family.
