Hotaro's mentor had tended to Towa's mother, and he felt a kinship with him when witnessing the bond between mother and son. Hotaro tried to give him hope, but over time this lessened as his mother's condition worsened. He feels guilt despite being unable to do anything for her. Hotaro thinks of (and worries about) Towa from time to time, and hopes he's doing better these days, wherever he is.
