Izumi comes across as a poised well mannered individual and that is indeed quite true. She was raised as a refined young woman, her parents craving higher social status and hoped their children would get them there, and raised them partially as if they were high class citizens. Izumi’s nature at a glance reflects that, she carries herself with grace and dignity but beneath that exterior is someone who is deeply driven by her passions, aiming to push herself towards her own goals removed from what her parents had wanted for her. Even so, before she found herself in her current career, her mother taught her skills of how to run the house for her future family, and as a result she is very self sufficient, and this self sufficiency extends to all aspects of her life, she doesn’t like asking for favors or being indebted to anyone, she works hard to make sure she can be independent.

Despite the elegant graceful exterior Izumi tries to give up, she can be quite the spitfire. This fire in her belly keeps her driven and motivated through sheer force of will but it can leave her to have a bit of a snippy attitude and a temper at times. She is able to keep it under wraps when she’s working, but in casual settings she can get riled up. Even so, she is very hardworking in making sure she is in top shape to do her work to the best of her ability, sometimes to her own detriment. She can be a bit of a perfectionist and can neglect her health while trying to do so.

Izumi is a stubborn one, she tends to remain steadfast to her values and opinions over things and has a difficult time opening up to anything that contradicts what she believes in, it is quite a challenge to change this rose’s mind. Despite her exterior, Izumi has insecurities when it comes to worth, after all she was never meant to enter the entertainment business but did through a stroke of luck, as a result she deals with imposter syndrome and feels the need to constantly show she is worthy of her job. Her independence streak does lead her to be rather closed off from others at times, she’ll happily share her victories but tends to hold her more negative thoughts to herself. There has to be a deep seated trust between her and someone for her to open up about what’s bothering her.

Izumi and her twin brother were born to a couple formed from an arranged marriage, her father owned one of the major bathhouses in their district and from a young age Izumi was always tasked with cleaning and preparing the baths for the next set of guests. It was a labor she greatly disliked, and tried to pass the time by making cleaning entertaining to herself, either my humming to herself or putting a little pep in her step as she went about. It wasn’t much but it at least made the dreadful task more bearable. At home, things weren’t much better, as her mother taught her skills that would be useful as a future wife, cooking, cleaning, helping care for her siblings, it was all just as boring as having to take care of the bathhouse. She complained but her mother would only shush her, so she had to suck it up and learn.
Her twin did keep her company at times though, as they were close for obvious reasons. He never held her duties over her head as their older brother would sometimes do, in fact he’d often try to sneak her away to go play over by the beaches. They two would have fun for hours until one of their parents came running to retrieve them, scolding them for running off and taking Izumi away from her chores, they would apologize but snicker to themselves, already planning another day of running off for fun. Izumi wasn’t as close to her older brother, he often teased her for being stuck around doing the cleaning and caring for the bathhouse while he learned how to run it as a business. When they were around 10 her twin also began joining him so that more members of the family would be capable of keeping it running, he didn’t particularly like this as it meant less time with his sister, but it was something they had to endure. She had also begun carrying for their new baby brother around this time as well, with her mother and her swapping duties where she would care for the bathhouse while Izumi cared for the infant. Izumi frankly couldn’t decide what was worse, cleaning after adults or cleaning after infants. Still, the young Budew wormed his way into her heart, as all baby siblings often do.
Ironically, her spending so much time tending to her baby brother ended causing her to value her alone time while cleaning that much more. Make no mistake, she still didn’t like it but she appreciated the quieter moments so much more. She started singing more and more, dancing as she worked to pass the time. Little did she know however, a rather important guest happened to be listening in the other room, he wisely did not get close enough in order not to spook her, but he saw great potential in her. Later the man approached her parents, believing she had the capacity to become an entertainer in the entertainment district when she was of age. Her parents were hesitant at first, worried she might get involved in the more adult aspects of the red-light district, and they wanted to maintain her innocence for a future marriage. The man respected their worries and assured she would merely dance, sing, and play music for his clients, a geisha to be exact, he has other women for what goes beyond that. Her parents agreed, seeing the potential for their status to improve through their daughter.
She was told the news some time later and she was ecstatic by it, to be able to turn her simple pass time into something more for the masses? It was like a dream come true. She began her training at the age of 12, and spent the next 6 years swapping between doing her home chores and her training, as her younger brother got older, it became easier to spend more time away from her home. She was glad to be out of cleaning the bathhouse at least. She worked as hard as she could to prove herself worthy of being scouted the way she was. Some of her fellows became good friends, while others became her rivals, both friendly and not. Now that she was 18, she was ready for her debut, ready to show Radiant Harbor what she was made of.

Her family’s bathhouse is also connected to a small onsen, but this onsen is a well kept secret and only a select few of their clients are allowed access to it.
Funny enough, she had met a boy who would become her best friend through the exact same way she was recruited. Only this boy didn’t have the restraint to not say hi to her while she was cleaning.
Her poison point ability, despite being a nuisance at times, is helpful to prevent unsavory clients from touching her for long.

QOTD #5When you go to a festival, what's your favorite thing to do? Get snacks, hang out with friends, play games, ECT?
Izumi LOVES festivals, highly likely she's one of the people doing a dance routine for the crowd on stage, when she isn't occupied with that, she generally goes around to try all the food, especially snacks. She eats pretty simply most of the time to keep her physique for dancing and she gets very bored of it at times, any chance to indulge she will take. She'll also try any games she thinks looks fun but she isn't very good at them. She's a good sport though and doesn't complain when she loses, she laughs it off happily.
QOTD #4Inspiration board, kin wheel, college of random assortment of photos—whatever it is, what makes up your character? Who or what is their inspiration? Their conceptual theme?
Oh that's a great question, Izumi started off as an magical girl NPC for a character in an pkmn anthro madoka magical group, but I ended up dropping that character so Izumi never got to go past the concept board, she herself was inspired by another character I made for that group(that I also abandoned but liked the concept) that was inspired by dancers and dancing groups. Think like cirque du soleil, then throw Shen Yu into the mix. For Pokimono I didn't want to remove that concept from her so I started looking into traditional Japanese dancers and came across Geisha and here we are
QOTD #3Describe your going to bed routine. Do you have any quirks in your sleeping habits? How do you snore?
I imagine Izumi has a simple routine, probably washing up after a long day and drinking some warm tea, maybe do some writing about how her day went or some reading before finally heading to sleep
QOTD #2What would you do on a rainy day?
As a plant raining days kinda make her a bit sad and gloomy, especially the harder it rains, so she'd rather take the day to drink or eat something warm and cozy and take things easy for the day. She'll work if she has to but admittedly she rather not as her energy levels will be a bit off for the day due to the rain
QOTD #1who were you closer to as a child? Mom or dad?
Honestly now that I'm thinking about it probably neither. Izumi's dad was always busy teaching her older and twin brother about how to run the bathhouse and she was busy cleaning that she didn't really get to see him much, especially after she started training to be a Geisha. She theoretically would be closer to her mom but her mom was always making her do chores and teaching her how to run the house for a future husband that she didn't really bond with her mom either But if you had to make her choose she'd pick her mom
